Church Rebuilding After Fire

Athens, Georgia–

A church has big plans to rebuild after it burned down.

Last April, a fire consumed Oconee Street United Methodist Church. Although firefighters struggled to subdue the inferno, the church was left in ruins. Now the ruins are fenced off to the public, and members have relocated to Tuckston Methodist Church, off Highway 78.

Enrique Alpaugh, a church member, says the demolition of the church will start soon.

He says that the work will begin in the next two weeks and the rebuilding process could take from six months to one year.
