Athens, G.A.— The holiday season is a time that many of you will try to take time away from work. But these people are looking for work. Scott Kritters is one of them.
“It took me a year and a half last time to find another job due to the way employment was to start with. No one was able to hire,” states Kritters.
He was just laid off yesterday.
“Yea I’m basically looking for anything I can get my hands on,” states Kritters.
Here at the Department of Labor, people like Phyllis Winfrey can help with your job search.
“Even if its Anchorage, Alaska we will take the time to help them pin point that job and find the information they need to apply for that job,” says Phyllis Winfrey.
The career center offers a resource area with computers so that people can look up companies. They offer workshops for resumes and interviews…. but Phyllis Winfrey aims to give people a little more than just job help.
“The job search and the situations they may have and barriers they may face or other obstacles for finding jobs. You really got to have hope to keep yourself going. It is the basic motivation we all need,” says Winfrey.
That hope may just land Scott Kritters a new job.
“I hope it doesn’t take long. I already have an interview at Bed, Bath, and Beyond warehouse. So I’m hoping for that one,” explains Kritters.
