Athens-Clarke County emergency services prepare in case of possible terroristic attack

Athens, GA — Thirteen years after the 9/11 terrorist attacks our nation is still dealing with terrorism. President Barack Obama addressed the nation just last night about the ISIS threat. Northeast Georgia emergency services are worried of another terrorism attack similar to 9/11. We spoke with Athens-Clarke County emergency services who say they are training under the worst case scenarios in case of another possible terroristic threat.

“We haven’t had a 9/11 type disaster here in Georgia yet,” says Lisa Janak of Georgia Emergency Management. “But, everybody remembers the Centennial Park bombings.”

Police are encouraging residents of Northeast Georgia to sign up for news alerts on the Athens-Clarke County website.
