MADISON, GA- She has traded real guns for hot glue guns. Meet Kelly Kincaid, she’s a 2nd grade teacher at Colbert Elementary School in Madison, Georgia, turning in her badge to become a teacher.
Kelly was a cop and detective for 12 years before she took up teaching. She began working and helping kids through her job as a detective. It’s through that experience that Kelly got the motivation to become a teacher.
The one common denominator Kincaid says is trying to take care of things that are out of her control. Kincaid says she makes her students her top priority.
“I can make them feel better when she’s with them and I try to make them feel special, that they can do what they want to do.” She says this is what she did as a police officer too.
Despite the impact she has on her students, Kincaid says she its her students who leave a lasting impression on her.
