ATHENS — The West Broad Community Market Garden is in the running to receive a $20,000 grant from the Seeds of Change program.
Grady Newsource reporter Sophie Archer is looking into what the West Broad Community Market Garden would do with the money.
Seeds of Change supports local school or community gardens. You have until April 27 to send in your vote for the West Broad Market Garden (WBMG).
The West Broad Community Market Garden is Athens-Clarke County’s first community-based urban farm.
The Market and Garden is located in one of the poorest neighborhoods in Athens and provides locally grown, fresh produce to people in the area.
The produce is sold at reduced prices for recipients of food stamps in the Athens area.
Only the top 50 gardens head to the next round of voting. If you want to see this little garden grow, send in your vote here.
