Libertarian Town Hall Meeting Tonight!

The Libertarian Party of Athens has been around for less than a year, and are hoping to have candidates run for the midterm elections on May 22nd.

Vice Chairman of the party, William Wright, explains how they are going to do this, “We have a candidate we are trying to get set up in the ninth district and to do that we have to have 20,000 signatures or 1/5 of the electorate which is a pretty high threshold.”

The party is hosting an event tonight to allow people the opportunity to come in and ask questions to the potential candidates and get questions answered from a libertarian perspective, which learns more towards lower taxes and provide solutions to social problems.

“What we really want is we wanted is to get people in who maybe never really thought about their local elections”, Wright states,”and (haven’t thought about) how their local government works.”

The event is at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Transmetropolitan Athens, GA.
