Fighting the Drought: New Plans for Water Recycling

New water recycling plans approved by the Athens-Clarke County Commission could potentially lower drought probability to almost 0% according to an assessment presented by the public works department in January. The assessment determined the existing drought resilience of Clarke County and created solutions for the county to become more water efficient in the future. New Drought Restrictions For Our Area

ATHENS, Ga.– This week marks the 21st week of continuous severe drought in northeastern Georgia. Due to worsening drought conditions in about three-fourths of the state the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) of  the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has declared a raise the state’s drought response to Level 2 in 52 counties and has imposed a Level 1 Drought Response in an additional 58 counties. ATHENS, Ga. — Smoke continued to spread across Northeast Georgia Wednesday morning, obscuring the blue sky and causing health problems for people with asthma or lung conditions.
