Athens Restaurants Adapt to Cheap Food Trend

ATHENS, Ga. – A new restaurant has just opened downtown. Its owners say they hope to preserve what they call the spirit of Athens. In recent years, many other restaurants and stores have closed. Restaurants that have closed recently include NONA, Preserve, Square One, Hip Pops, Brixx, Ten Pins Tavern, Tin Drum, Goodie Two Shoes, East West Bistro, the Cafe on Prince and Paul’s Bar-B-Q. East West owner takes valuables from restaurant, disappears

By Abby Jessen The owner of East West Bistro in Downtown Athens disappeared last week, taking everything of value from the restaurant. The items taken are worth more than 9 thousand dollars. “He just disappeared,” remarks previous owner Renee Middleton. The restaurant has been closed since owner Joe Yan ran out of town taking coolers, liquor, computers and all other valuables from the restaurant.
