UPDATE: UGA football player Trenton Thompson withdraws from classes

ATHENS, Ga. — University of Georgia defensive tackle Trenton Thompson is withdrawing from classes this semester at UGA after being released from Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital. A police report filed today indicated Thompson was found by police officials late Wednesday night wandering in the street on River Road on UGA campus. After determining that Thompson was “behaving incoherently”, the officer contacted Emergency Medical Services. Police asked Thompson what medication he had taken. He claimed he had taken “two oxies.” Thompson returned home after being rushed to the hospital Wednesday evening. A…

Light Up Sanford This Saturday

An already tradition-rich establishment added a new tradition last year.  The Redcoat Band prompted a movement called “Light Up Sanford” last season for fans in Sanford Stadium to turn their phone lights on when the fourth quarter began and the band played “Krypton.”  The end result?  Sanford Stadium lit up.  Now the Redcoat Band is calling fans to do it again this Saturday, against the Auburn Tigers. “I think it was awesome,” senior linebacker Ryne Rankin said.  “It was a great experience seeing Sanford come alive like that.” In what started…

Georgia Women’s Tennis in Puerto Rico

The fourth-ranked Georgia women’s tennis team headed to Puerto Rico on Wednesday to play in the Puerto Rico Fall Classic. Two leading Georgia tacklers available against Florida

The Bulldogs will have their two leading tacklers for this weekend’s game against No. 14 Florida.  The University of Georgia Athletic Association released the following statement today: “After receiving an incident report last week, we determined that neither Roquan Smith nor Natrez Patrick had violated any Athletic Association rules that would require suspension,” UGA Athletic Director Greg McGarity said.  “This included drug testing, which was negative for both student-athletes.” According to the incident report, on October 15th, police were called to McWhorter Hall by the residential assistant when she smelled marijuana…

2017 Georgia Football Schedule Announced

The Southeastern Conference office released the 2017 SEC schedule on Tuesday night.  Georgia will host Appalachian State, Samford, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina and Kentucky.  Road games include Notre Dame, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Florida, Auburn and Georgia Tech. Georgia will play Notre Dame for the first time in regular season, the last meeting being in the 1981 Sugar Bowl.  The Bulldogs defeated the Fighting Irish 17-10 to win the consensus national champion title.

UGA Target Demetris Robertson to Announce Decision Early May

Multiple sources report that five-star recruit Demetris Robertson will announce his college decision on May 2nd. The number one receiver in the nation has been recruited by high-end programs such as Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Cal. As of today, 247sports predicts Robertson is committing to Georgia.
