Zelma Griffith stores the supplies for her rag rugs in bags on the front porch of her home in Athens, Ga. on Oct. 3, 2018. She found herself shopping for sheets to make rag rugs more than anything else. “I’m used to going to thrift stores. At the time, before he [Greg Wagstaff] turned me on to makin rugs, rag rugs, I was going to the thrift stores for other reasons. Other things. But then he turned me on to making these rag rugs, every time I went in the store, I wasn’t lookin’ for nothing but sheets. Different color sheets, I didn’t want nothin’ else. Show me some old sheets or something. Show me somethin’ that I can make me some rag rugs,” Griffith said. (Photo by Kristen Adaway)
