Zelma Griffith pulls thread through a rag rug, connecting the strips of old sheets she has braided into a circular pattern. Griffith learned not rushing to complete a rag rug is important to the quality of the finished product. “I make sure I take my time with the stitching and all because people wanna turn it over, look at it, see what the backside look like. Even though that ain’t the side that’s gonna be showing, still, they wanna know what they finna put they money into. Because I’m gonna do the same thing,” Griffith explained.
