More Than a House, It’s Their Story: The Rossesters and Their Historic Home

This story follows an elderly couple in Eatonton, Georgia, and the home they’ve spent years building a life in together. What started as a simple photo assignment turned into something much more personal as I spent time with them, listening to their stories and seeing how much history lives within their space. From old photographs of them renovating the house to the small details that fill each room, their home reflects decades of work, memories and commitment.

As they shared stories about when they first moved in and how the house has changed over time, it became clear that this place is more than just where they live, it’s a reflection of their relationship and the life they’ve built together. I wanted this piece to capture both of those things: the physical space and the emotional weight it holds. I also found myself paying closer attention to the smaller, quieter moments, the ones that might otherwise go unnoticed but say the most about who they are and how they live.

Through a combination of audio and images, this project focuses on quiet, everyday moments and the lasting impact of time. Spending my time in Eatonton with them gave me a deeper appreciation for how meaningful these kinds of stories are, and how important it is to take the time to document them. It reminded me that even the most ordinary spaces can hold extraordinary stories when you take the time to look and listen closely.
