OCC Fire Department Infectious Disease Class

The Oconee County Fire Department is preparing for their medical class on infectious diseases tomorrow. With ebola being the hot topic they will touch on their new protocol and protective equipment, but also touch on flu with flu season in full swing. Oconee County Fire Departments will soon be equipped with the new N-95 Masks, which are to protect from infectious diseases. Deputy Fire Chief Ken Parsons says Oconee County Fire Department sent an email out to their volunteer medical responders this morning. They are getting the latest information from the Center for Disease Control throughout the day. Reporter Shannon O’Keefe found that the classes were not advertised to the public because there is limited space in the location of the classes so the fire department is cordially inviting their medical responders and fire fighters. These ultimately will be the people who will potentially be in contact with these infectious diseases.
