5 Things to Know for November 5, 2014

1. Election results: The Election was last night and we have the results in!

 

2. Oconee Liquor:  Wine and beer are no longer the only alcohol being consumed in Oconee County. Residents can now buy liquor at local restaurants and grocery stores. 65 percent of citizens voted to pass the liquor by the drink referendum

 

3. Infectious disease firefighters: Ebola has been a major top in the world lately. Oconee County Fire  Department is hosting a new medical class to make sure that they are prepared for these infectious diseases.

 

4. Athens- Clarke County DUI grant: Athens- Clarke County Police Department receives a $250,000 grant to crack down on DUI enforcement. Check out the new equipment and strategies that come along with the grant.

 

5. Nuci’s Space: The Saint Mary’s Steeple on Oconee Street is a local music landmark. The landmark has been in Athens for over 140 years and Nuci’s Space is starting a campaign to raise $250,000 to save and renovate the steeple.
