‘Todd Gurley Bill’ Heads to Governor’s Desk

Tod GurleyATLANTA — The “Todd Gurley Bill” is now on its way to the governor’s desk.

Those who are wheeling and dealing sports memorabilia might want to think twice.

Sports Anchor Sierra Grady spoke with Tom Krause, the director of communications for majority leader Bill Cowsert.

“The entity or the person can be sued by the organization if guilty of a misdemeanor,” Krause said. “If the school/organization loses money due to their games no longer being televised or they don’t go to a bowl game, the school can actually sue for the damages lost.”

Sports dealers who tempt college athletes to chance their eligibility might be breaking the law if Gov. Nathan Deal signs the bill that passed the Senate last night 38-4.
