Rain, cool temperatures on their way back to Northeast Georgia

ATHENS — Northeast Georgia has a very active weather pattern for the upcoming week. Student meteorologist Riley Hale has your weather update for today.

Showers start later this afternoon and stick around overnight. Lows tonight will be in the mid 60s thanks to a south wind and ample cloud cover. Rain sticks around tomorrow with on and off showers throughout the day.

There will be some instability to produce some isolated thunderstorms later in the day, but no severe weather is expected. Highs tomorrow will be in the mid-70s. Rain totals from today through tomorrow night will be between 2-3 inches. Flooding concerns will likely warrant a flood watch for North Georgia later today.

A wedge of cool air will work itself into the area by Wednesday, which will leave us with slightly cooler temperatures and another round of rain. Northeast Georgia will warm back up to average temperatures by Friday and into the weekend, but rain is still likely each day.
