Georgia Weather History on This Date

By: Janai James

Sunny skies are finally back in the state and Athens area after a long period of rain. A high pressure system is bringing clear skies and warmer temperatures for the next few days. But on this date in recent years we’ve experienced stormy weather:

October 6, 2014 – An EF-1 tornado briefly touched down north of Ringgold, Georgia, uprooting and damaging trees along its path.

October 6, 2005 – A decade ago, tropical storm Tammy brought much needed rain to north and central Georgia.  The heaviest rain fell east a line between Athens and Dublin. From 3-5 inches was recorded.

More information on local weather history and patterns is available on the National Weather Service website.
