  • The UGA women’s basketball team won its first game of the season on Sunday when it beat the Stetson Hatters 76-55. This was the first win for new head coach Joni Taylor, who replaced the now retired Andy Landers. Senior Shacobia Barbee recorded a triple double in her first game back following a broken leg she suffered on Jan. 25. Barbee’s 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists was also the third tripe-double in school history and the first since 1995
  • Georgia football head coach Mark Richt made news Sunday morning when he flew out to Seattle to visit five-star quarterback commit Jacob Eason. Eason posted a picture of the two eating breakfast and Richt flew out to visit the high school senior on Saturday night following Georgia’s win over Auburn.

  • The Georgia volleyball team lost again on Sunday, this time losing to Arkansas in straight sets, 3-0. The team is still searching for its first win in conference play. The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when it hosts Alabama.
  • On Friday, the Georgia men’s basketball team lost its season opener 92-90 to Chattanooga. The Bulldogs had a chance to win in over time, but a last second heave by freshman Turtle Jackson missed the basket. Georgia was lead by junior guard J.J. Frazier, whose 22 points and eight assists led the team, and sophomore forward Yante Maten‘s career-best 17 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks. Georgia returns to action on Friday, when it hosts Murray State.
  • The Georgia men’s tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule on Sunday as it won three matches in the Bulldog Scramble Sunday which was hosted at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Freshmen Walker Duncan and Emil Reinberg won a doubles match and the pair each won their singles match. The team returns to action again in January.

  • Todd Gurley hurdled another NFL player yesterday, as this time he lept over Chicago Bears safety Antrel Rolle. Gurley finished with 12 carries and 45 rushing yards as the St. Louis Rams lost to the Bears 37-13.
