Q: Why are you running?

Miller said she believes the office should protect Georgia families, businesses and communities, according to her website. “Her career has been defined by one core principle: the law should serve people, not political interests,” according to her website.

Q: What experiences have prepared you for this office?

She has experience as a civil rights attorney and has served in the Georgia General Assembly since January 2023. “Tanya Miller is a respected trial attorney, a proven leader as Chair of the Georgia House Democratic Caucus and a fierce advocate for Georgians,” according to her website. “Whether prosecuting a complex homicide case or drafting legislation to support small businesses, Tanya brings an unmatched legal background and an unwavering commitment to fairness.”

Q: What are the most important issues facing our community and what would you do to address them?

Issue #1: Public safety and crime. Miller would work with local law enforcement, provide resources and training and prioritize crimes against children and domestic violence, according to her website. 

Issue #2: Consumer protection and affordability. Miller would investigate illegal price gouging and anti-competitive practices, pursue scammers and identity thieves and enforce Georgia’s consumer-protection laws, as noted on her website.

Q: What is one accomplishment you hope to achieve during your office if elected

Miller says she wants people to believe in the attorney general’s office and that it actually will be watching out for its citizens, according to her website. She hopes to strengthen consumer protections in Georgia, and “she believes that competence and quality – not backroom deals – should be what moves our state forward.”

Q: Why are you running?

“If you want a workhorse who’s been going every single day and fight for families just like my own, then Brian Strickland is your candidate to be an ex-attorney general,” Strickland said on his website. He said he intends to serve all Georgians, regardless of political party. “Every Georgian deserves to feel safe at home, at work, at school, and in their community,” he said on his website.

Q: What experiences have prepared you for this office?

Strickland is a lawyer, a member of the Georgia Senate for District 42 and serves as the chairman of the judiciary committee. He also served in the Georgia House in 2012. He earned a bachelor of business administration in economics from Valdosta State University in 2006 and a law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2009.

Q: What are the most important issues facing the state of Georgia and what would you do to address them?

Issue #1: Public safety. Strickland intends to work with law enforcement on the local, state and federal levels to address violent crime, gangs and illegal drug trading. These efforts will be executed through coordination and enforcement. “Violent criminals do not stop so neither will I,” Strickland said on his website.

Issue #2: Consumer protection. Strickland has helped pass legislation to provide additional protections and support for the elderly, foster kids, mentally ill and more. He intends to apply what he’s learned in his potential role of attorney general, according to his website.

Q: What is one accomplishment you hope to achieve during your office if elected?

Strickland plans to create a public corruption task force if elected. “(The task force will be) focusing on identifying and investigating those that misuse taxpayer dollars,” Strickland said in a YouTube interview. He highlights that both political parties should be held accountable for potential fraud and corruption. “It is time that we all come together and jointly call out anyone that uses their office to benefit themselves instead of putting Georgia families first,” Strickland said.
