UPDATE– The other involved driver in last night’s car wreck has been released from Athens Regional as of this morning.

The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the deaths of four University of Georgia students last night. One student is currently at the Athens Regional Medical Center.

The wreck was near the 3900 block of Greensboro Highway just after 9 p.m. They also say the tag on one of the vehicles is out of Gwinnett County.

The Oconee Sheriff, Scott Berry, confirms that all five people in the car are University of Georgia students. The University of Georgia Police Department sent a detective to both the scene and to Athens Regional Medical Center last night.

The identities of the students will not be released until all family members have been contacted. Grady Newsource is in contact with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office and will keep you updated.
