ATHENS, Ga. — So, about last night.

You know Donald J. Trump was elected President of the United States, but you may not know he received 51% of the vote in Georgia, according to unofficial results from the Secretary of State.

Here are a few more things you might not know:

  1. ALL YOU NEED IS ONE: The race for a Watkinsville City Council seat has come down to a single vote. Dan Matthews has 569 votes; Mark Melvin has 568 votes. The Oconee County Board of elections said Wednesday they’re waiting on at least four votes from overseas.
  2. “FAILING SCHOOLS” MEASURE FAILS: The Opportunity School District measure, also known as “Amendment 1,” was defeated by a margin of 20 points. The Amendment was expected to lose by a much smaller margin, but it is nonetheless a blow to Gov. Nathan Deal (R), the measure’s highest-profile champion.
  3. SUNDAY DRINKS: Voters in Oconee County approved two measures that will now allow the sale of alcohol by the package and by the drink in that county. In an interesting quirk, 45 fewer people voted for sales by the drink than voted for sales by the package.
