Update: Preliminary Autopsy Results In For 22-Year-Old UGA Student

 

Athens, G.A.—

UPDATE

“An autopsy was completed by the medical examiner and the preliminary results indicate that it was not a homicide, no foul play was involved, and no one else had a role in her death. Final results are pending further testing.” This is according to a media release by the Athens Clarke County Police Department.

UPDATE

Police found Rebecca Greene in a creek off The Plaza Street with her pink bicycle. The autopsy will occur today.  “As we get a little further into the investigation there will certainly be more information that will come to light,” states GBI Special Agent Mike Ayers.

 

This is the scene where police found the body of 22 year old Rebecca Elaine Greene.

“This morning the body of Rebecca Elaine Greene was found. She had been missing since yesterday at about 5:30 P.M.. An Athens Clarke County Police Officer discovered her body this morning when he was looking in this area. Its like a small creek and her body was found in the creek,” states Sherry Lang of GBI Public Affairs.

The GBI is taking over the investigation. The body will be transported to the GBI Headquarters in Decatur, Georgia where the cause of death will be determined.
