‘Color Purple’ Author Speaks in Athens

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Alice Walker will speak at two public events in Athens this week and seating is in high demand. If you hope to see Walker and don’t have a ticket, your best bet is on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m in the University of Georgia’s Chapel.

Wednesday’s first-come-first-seated opportunity has room for about 300 people and doors open at 2:30 p.m. An additional 100 seats were reserved for local school students and other selected groups. Walker will give the inaugural lecture as the Delta Visiting Chair for Global Understanding for the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts at UGA.

Walker’s two public appearances this week include:

Wednesday, Oct. 14, at 3:30 p,m, The UGA Chapel, 109 Herty Field Athens, GA 30602. Doors open one hour before the event.

Thursday, Oct. 15, at 6:30 p.mThe Morton Theatre, 95 W Washington St, Athens, GA 30601. This event is sold out in advance.
