The East Broad Street Bridge and surrounding roads were initially set to close Monday morning on Sept. 17, but due to weather concerns, there was a minor delay in closing preparations and installments. The Athens Clarke-County Government says the bridge will be closed by Sept. 18.
The bridge and approaching roads are expected to be closed for seven to 10 days for a maintenance project through Suncoast Restorations. The affected roads are East Broad Street, Willow Street, and Dr. Martin Luther King Pkwy.
Athens Clarke-County Government plans to provide updates on the bridge rehabilitation project through social media.
