Homeless Man Arrested for Bar Burglaries

-Athens, Ga

Jason Stewart is the General Manager of Pauley’s in downtown Athens. He knows the security precautions that it takes to keep your staff and financial investment safe.

“There is only a handful of people that have a key to the front door. They are the two owners and myself and then one of the other managers. We also have the security system here that goes off. We have about ten securities cameras just in this small building here as well as outside,” Stewart said.

These precautions have made it harder for robbers to get into their bar. However other bars have not been so lucky. Three Bars were robbed this past month. Police believe it was the work of one man. Robb Little Ware, a homeless man was arrested this past weekend. He is accused of taking thousands of dollars in alcohol from Moonshine Bar on Clayton Street, Boars Head Lounge, and Dirty Birds on Washington Street.

Robb Little Ware currently resides in the Athens Clarke County Jail and he was originally picked up according to his arrest record for prowling or loitering and possession of tools. But is now being charged with three counts of burglary. Jason Stewart said the way these bars are set up may have influenced their susceptibility.

“They have a little alley in the back there that connects the Bury, Flannigans and Dirty Birds, and Whiskey Bent that’s probably the best way somebody could get in there,” Stewart said.
Robberies like this also mean a big cut to the sales of the bars with no reimbursement.

“It’s your straight bottle cost loss. It’s as if I were to drop a bottle behind the bar and it breaks. I mean there’s nothing anybody can do about it.” Says Stewart

Dirty birds said they had about 1 thousand dollars of alcohol stolen over the course of the month which means a loss of over 3 thousand dollars in sales. As for Pauley’s they believe they have taken the necessary precautions to keep their staff and financial investments safe.
