A 27-year-old man is in critical condition tonight after an accident on his moped.

Police say Jayson Franks was traveling on his moped when he was rear ended by a Toyota RAV4 and then run over Tuesday night.

It occurred where Atlanta Highway and Epps Bridge Road split heading west.

Lt. Don Eckert, a cop who was at the scene, said moped accidents are becoming more common but that this particular wreck was one of the worst he had ever seen.

Franks’ fiancee, Jennie Baracco said she is trying to cope.

“I just know that I have to stay strong for my family and for our son, Jayden,” Baracco said.

That strength keeps Jennie Baracco going while she waits for her fiancee to heal.

At the Bulldog Carwash where Franks is employed, his friends wait with her. They say he had a tremendous work-ethic.

“He works hard every single day. Some days you’ll have guys that linger when they’re tired and stuff like that. He works all day everyday and always talks about his kid…making money for his kid,” Jonathan Fennelly, a Bulldog Carwash employee and friend of Franks, said.

Baracco says Franks was hit while he was on his way to get their son medicine.

“He asked me last night about his daddy, and I just told him he’s sick right now. That’s all I can say,” she said.

Franks is in the ICU at the trauma center at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

He’s now just trying to survive and is facing internal injuries with tough surgeries ahead.

His fiancee hopes for his recovery. “I don’t know what I would do without him. I don’t know what I would do.”

No one has been charged with the accident and police continue to investigate.
