Watkinsville, GA — One woman at the Oconee County Senior Center says it gives seniors the chance to show they still have value to the community. However, the senior center would have fallen apart without her. Assistant Director Cindy Peck does everything from cooking to planning events and trips to organizing the morning Zumba class.

Director of the Senior Center Merry Howard says the staff has Cindy Peck to thank for keeping everyone together.

“Cindy stays on top of all of us. You know making sure that we know all the rules and regulations… she’s good at what she does,” Howard says.

Howard adds that when the previous director retired, it was Peck who took on every job she could to keep the place running and “weathered the storm.”

Peck says she wants people to know that the Oconee Senior Center is not a place for people to go to be “six foot under.” She says the center’s goal is to be fun and healthy and help everyone live longer.
