Pink Umbrella Bunco is Back!

By Anna Clark

Athens Regional Medical Center will host its semi-annual Pink Umbrella Bunco on Friday, Sept. 11, to benefit the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support.

Pink Umbrella Bunco is a fundraiser that sponsors Athens Regional employees who participate in the In Their Shoes walk, an annual fundraiser for the Loren Smith Center. Last year, the event raised $192,000. Tammy Gilland, vice president of Athens Regional Foundation, says In Their Shoes is their biggest annual fundraising event.

The Loran Smith Center offers emotional and spiritual support free of charge for people suffering from all types of cancer through support groups, workshops, and individual counseling. The center operates primarily on individual donations and money raised through organized fundraising events.

Tickets for Pink Umbrella Bunco, to be held from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., are $25. The price includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, two drink tickets, door prizes and a silent auction.

To purchase tickets, email Patty Booth at patty.booth@athenshealth.org or call 706-475-5430. Only 100 tickets will be sold.

For more information, visit the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support website.
