Shelves Restocked at Local Grocery Stores

Athens, GA – Athens grocery stores are now fully stocked after customers rushed to load their fridges to prepare for freezing temperatures.

Athens locals and students returning from winter break were met with empty shelves at some stores. A representative from Publix on Barnett Shoals Road acknowledged the effects the weather had on the store and its supply of groceries, but said the Publix has received shipments to replenish low inventory. The store has received milk and eggs and will receive frozen goods tomorrow.

According to representatives at Walmart on Epps Bridge Parkway and Kroger on College Station Road, their stores received their daily shipments without delay. They were stocked with most necessities, but Walmart says they are still without firewood, electric heaters and electric blankets. Kroger says they were prepared for the rise in customers due to weather concerns and the return of university students.
