Suspicious Incident Downtown Athens

ATHENS, GA- Police are looking into what they are calling a suspicious incident in downtown Athens. According to Athen-Clarke County Police Department Spokesperson Hilda Sorrow, earlier today a man came int0 Athens First Bank on Hancock Avenue claiming his wife and children were being held hostage.

Sorrow added that the situation is still on-going, but it has not been confirmed to be a hostage situation.

Officers have responded to several locations attempting to locate anyone who may be involved. Grady NewSource Reporter, Allison Morrow is on the scene and spoke with Lutenient Gary Epps. Epps said there is no danger to anyone inside the bank at this time.
