One UGA Swim Dawg has made quite a splash in the record books. Nick Fink is finishing his swim career at UGA with being named the SEC’s Male Scholar Athlete of the year.
Fink may have taken his final lap for the UGA Swim Dawgs…but he’s still in the classroom finishing his degree with a 3.8 GPA. This senior from New Jersey is also still in the pool…training for what comes after UGA Swim.
Fink says, “It’s definitely sad to see such an important part of my life go.”
Fink’s name is all over the record books for UGA and the SEC. In addition to just being picked as the SEC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for swimming and diving… he is the first Bulldog in history to win the 100 breast stroke all four years. This 19-time All American is making a dive for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.
Fink said, “It’s always been dream of mine…I haven’t been in reach of that until recently… so its been fun with this whole new swimming professionally and everything… definitely I’d say Rio is goal now.”
Fink’s coaches believe this Swim Dawg can go all the way, and help UGA recruiting in the process. Associate Head Coach Brian Smith said UGA has a “great tradition of kids that are successful in the pool and in the classroom. I think good kids recruit good kids.”
