ATHENS– The Georgia Bulldogs are back in action tonight after returning to Foley Field yesterday to take on the Mercer Bears. The game just got underway at the top of the hour, but if Georgia wants to win tonight against Kennesaw State, it has to bring out the big bats and pitch better—something the team did not do last night.
The Bears did not waste time putting runs on the board. They notched four of them in their first at-bat. And they did not stop there. With the bases loaded, the Bears batted in more runs. Georgia tried to combat the onslaught, but their late game efforts did not stop a homerun by the Bears in their last at-bat to solidify the 12-8 win.
Junior catcher Zack Bowers says the key to tonight’s game is for the team to be ready to score early and often. Bowers went 4-5 last night against Mercer.
The Bears snapped the Bulldog’s three-game winning streak. After tonight’s game Georgia will hit the road to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks.
