UGA Soccer is Out

Athens, GA– The UGA Soccer team was eliminated in the SEC Quarterfinals. The eighth-seeded team, played against top seed Texas A&M in Orange Beach, Alabama. Last night’s loss drops Georgia to 10-7-2 on the season.

Head Coach Steve Holeman said, “It was a tough assignment. [Texas] A&M is very good, credit to them. They are one of the top teams in the country, and playing them after playing 110 minutes on Monday night was a tall order. They finished their chances, and to give up a goal in the first couple of minutes in each half kind of did us in.”

In just over 5 minutes, A&M took a 1-0 lead. Georgia’s first goal came with 20 minutes. It was hard for Georgia to come back after and because of that the Aggies would hold on for the 3-0 victory as they move into Friday’s semifinals.

The UGA Bulldogs will await next Monday’s NCAA Selection Show at 4:30 PM on NCAA.com.
