Weather Update, Cold Front Moving In

Despite the cooler start this morning, today’s temperatures will top out in the upper 70’s across north east Georgia with a high of 79 here in Athens. This afternoon and evening, a weak cold front will push in from the northwest bringing cloudy skies and small chance for showers this evening, mainly in far north Georgia. As the front continues to move through the area on Thursday we will remain mostly dry and overcast but we are looking at just a small chance of isolated showers mainly between 11am and 5pm. With winds turn to the northwest, we will see slightly cooler high temperatures tomorrow in the mid 70’s.

Chances for rain will increase for late Friday into Saturday as we see a secondary, stronger cold front move through the area. The threat for severe weather is low but a stray thunderstorm or two cannot be ruled out.  By Sunday, we will clear out dramatically with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 70’s!
