WEATHER UPDATE: UGA students evacuated, Fallen tree blocks Oconee traffic

Severe storms are causing traffic accidents and evacuations in northwest Georgia.  Another string of storms is expected to move in around 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Oconee County reported a downed tree blocking traffic lanes Highway 78 near Highway 53.  Crews are working to clear the roadway at this time.  Weather has caused several car accidents throughout the area.

Many UGA students were evacuated or sent to safe places in the on campus.  Some were woken up at 7 a.m. Tuesday morning to tornado sirens going off in Athens-Clarke County.
