Commerce, GA – If you live in the city of Commerce, your electric rates could be going up. City leaders in Commerce haven’t decided how they’re going to raise the money, but the bottom line is that they’ll need to find a million dollars to be able to use two new nuclear power units at Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro by 2018. Some of their current options to make up the difference are to raise electricity rates for users in the Commerce community or to sell some of their shares of the power to other communities in the area.

Athens, GA – Administrators at the University of Georgia are taking a stance against sexual aggression on college campuses in response to a new campaign started by President Obama. The It’s On Us campaign aims to spread awareness of sexual aggression on college campuses throughout the United States, and UGA’s Vice-President of Public Affairs says that UGA was one of the first signees to the campaign. Atlanta, GA – The Atlanta Braves chop-chop-chopped their general manager Frank Wren this morning after the team recorded a disappointing season of 76 wins and 79 losses. This is the most disappointing season for the Braves in more than two decades. The team has named John Hart as the interim general manager. Athens, GA – The University of Georgia hockey team debuted their season at the Classic Center on Sunday. Despite a 2-6 loss against Florida, Ice Dawg fans will be happy to know the Classic Center will serve as the permanent home for the Georgia team in future games. The team played their game against Florida on a temporary ice rink, which will be open to the public for the winter season when it isn’t being used for Georgia games.
