Oconee County was the first county in Georgia to post a sex offender registry, making the number of registered sex offenders in the area known to the public. Barrow county has the highest number of registered sex offenders at 133 and Oconee County has the lowest number at 16. Oconee County Seargeant Kevin Nolley says he believes Oconee County has such a low number of registered sex offenders because there are not as many places to live in the Oconee County.
