New UGA Veterinary Facility Dedicated Tomorrow

ATHENS, GA – The UGA College of Veterinary Medicine will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow to open a new veterinarian facility located on College Station Road. The new facility includes an improved veterinary hospital, a field to test performance of horses, and an educational center. The ceremony will be held tomorrow at 2:00 PM. Reporter Alison Menhart spoke to the Dean of the college, Sheila Allen on the function of the new facility. Allen says administrators anticipate the new hospital will house fifty percent more animals than the current hospital.

“Right now we see 24,000 animals a year,” Allen says. “And we anticipate we will see a lot more in the new facility… the facility will easily manage fifty percent more.”
