Oconee County Sheriff Warns Against Credit Fraud

If the IRS says you’ve already filed your taxes and you know you haven’t, you could be a victim of tax fraud. At least three people have filed reports with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office claiming the IRS has records of their filings even though they haven’t done so. And they found out about the fraud when they tried to file themselves.

These kinds of fraud occur around tax time because there are crooks out there trying to get your tax refund. If you think you’ve been a victim of tax fraud, you can file a report with your local county’s sheriff’s office or report directly to the IRS.
