COMMERCE, Ga- The Commerce Police Department is offering its facility as a safe zone for Craigslist transactions. When meeting a stranger, you can come to the police department, ask for an officer escort and they will lend their presence to oversee the meeting.

Citizens can also call the department if a transaction will be occurring anywhere else in Commerce. A police car will be dispatched to again, lend their presence for safety. They will not intervene in instances where the transaction does not go well [arguments, getting ripped off, etc.], because it then becomes a civil dispute.

They will also not cross city lines when asked to oversee a meeting outside the station. All this can be attributed to Sgt. Tony Addison. We will keep you updated online, and you can see the full story on Grady Newsource today at 5pm.
