The Jackson County Sheriff’s department will host its first “Jeepin” for Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Home on Saturday.

The ride will include a 70-mile drive from Jackson County to Nichols Campground in Rabun County on the Tallulah River for a cookout.   JacksonCo_JEEP

Sixty years ago the GSYH was established to give Georgia’s most at-risk children the love, safety, and stability the need to become successful adults. There are currently five youth homes across the state. Children in the homes attend public school while receiving life skills training where they learn to cook, clean and money management. The children are also involved in extra-curricular activities in their school and community.

The money raised through the event will go into programs to ensure further programs within the GSYH.

The event will be held this Saturday — October 24 — at 10 AM at the Beef O’Brady’s in Jefferson, Georgia. It is $5 for breakfast and $20 per vehicle registered. For more information on registration you can email Sgt. Cindy O’Barr at cobarr@jacksoncountysheriff.com
