UGA Teaches Students How to Stay Safe Before Break

ATHENS, Ga.–University of Georgia officials have an important message when it comes to emergency situations.  Knowing what to do can be the difference between life and death and that’s why the University of Georgia decided to educate its students on the proper emergency procedures.

The University of Georgia hosted its annual Spring Preparedness Day today at the Tate West Lawn.  There students could learn from the UGA Office of Emergency Preparedness crucial tips for emergency situations.

“The intent of (the day) is to increase preparedness awareness on campus among students.  You know students prepare for exams, they prepare to go home after graduation, but we want you to them think about what they could do in case of an emergency,” says Emergency Operations Coordinator, Noëlle Broadax.

There was everything from emergency kits, a K-9 unit, and even two Emergency Medical Technicians and a Paramedic.  We asked EMT, Melissa Baird, what to do in a few situations.
