Mourning and Remembering: Student Deaths

A crowd estimated at more than a thousand people… including students, staff and faculty… gathered at the Tate Student Center Thursday night to remember and honor the four students killed in a car accident.  University president Jere Morehead called the tragedy “devastating.”

Two of the girls’ brothers spoke at the ceremony, along with her sorority sisters and hall mates in what were some very emotional moments.  And it is for that reason we want to share the report that follows.

Grady Newsource provided extensive coverage of the gathering along with the events leading up to it, in the 5 o’clock news.  The coverage provided above is from another group of students, who work on the newscast called FiveSeventy News, covered the event for a later 7 o’clock newscast.
