Nathan Deal Executive Order Freezes Gas Prices

Governor Nathan Deal signed an executive order this morning preventing gas stations from significantly increasing fuel prices across the state.

Deal’s order prohibits price gauging by Georgia gas stations, which activates an already existing law preventing price gauging during a state of emergency.

This latest executive order by Deal is intended to support a separate order last Friday. In Friday’s order, Deal lifted restrictions for truck drivers hauling fuel to guarantee more deliveries to depleted fuel stations.

Georgia’s law only allows gas stations to raise prices based on the increase in the cost of transporting fuel. The average price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline in Georgia has gone up from $2.10 to $2.34 in the last week.
