UGA Football Preview vs. Ole Miss

Athens, GA– The #12 Georgia Bulldogs (3-0) football team will travel to Oxford, Mississippi this weekend to take on the #23 Ole Miss Rebels (1-2).

Coach Kirby Smart said in a press conference on Monday that freshman Jacob Eason will get the start again at quarterback, provided he practices well this week. His 308 yard passing performance last week against Missouri included a clutch, game winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter to secure a twenty eight-twenty seven victory.

The Bulldogs’ kicking performance was not as effective and raised new concerns. Starting kicker William Ham missed both of his field goal attempts last week at crucial points in the win over the Tigers. Coach Smart says he will stick with Ham as starting kicker against Ole Miss.

Here’s a head to head comparison of the Bulldogs and Rebels’ performances to this point:

The Rebels passing attack led by quarterback Chad Kelly will strongly test the bulldogs pass defense Saturday. Behind their high-scoring offense, the Rebels nearly defeated the number one Alabama Crimson Tide last weekend.

The Bulldogs have a statistical advantage in rushing and overall defense, which they will need to continue to stop the Ole Miss offense. Starting running back Nick Chubb had a disappointing outing the last two games and will try to bounce back against the Rebels.

In other player news, Georgia defensive lineman Johnathan Ledbetter will remain suspended for the game.
