See What’s Inside UGA’s New Facility

ATHENS, GA.—- The University of Georgia Athletic Association now has a 100-thousand square
foot Indoor Athletic Facility (IAF). It was dedicated on February 14th. The IAF includes a 100-yard football practice field that connects to the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall and the Woodruff practice field complex.  Furthermore, the IAF includes a 65-meter track runway, jumping pits, and a netting system that will allow other athletic teams to practice indoors in inclement weather.

The $30.2 million facility was completely funded by private donations.

UGA Head Football Coach Kirby Smart said in a statement, “The new indoor facility will open many new doors for our student athletes.”

The University of Georgia football team practiced at a location near the UGA soccer-softball complex prior to the completion of the IAF. The UGA Athletic Association constructed two full-length natural grass fields and one full-length artificial turf field, which will now be returned to the UGA Club Sports program.
