Gas Prices Rise Due to Hurricane Harvey

 

 

ATHENS, GA — Gas prices are rising throughout the state of Georgia due to Hurricane Harvey hitting the Texas coast. Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coastline on Friday as a Category 4 hurricane.

Gas prices are already up four cents in Athens, Georgia from the AAA.com reported average. AAA.com reported the median cost per gallon of gas in Athens to be $2.23.

It would not be a surprise to see gas prices rise between ten and thirty cents. According to AAA.com, gas stations could also see a shortage of gas at stations. Users can also go to GasBuddy.com for updated gas prices at different locations around the Athens area.
