University of Georgia freshman gymnast and Oconee County High School alum Madison McPherson will have to sit out the 2018 season after recently undergoing shoulder surgery.

The estimated recovery and rehabilitation time frame is six to eight months.

The Watkinsville, GA native could have contributed on key apparatuses for the Bulldogs as a vault and floor specialist.

Monday marked the first official practice for UGA Gymnastics in preparation for the 2018 season.
