The track and field outdoor season opened this weekend with the Spec-Towns Invitational. UGA’s 6th ranked men and 7th ranked women hosted some of the best track and field athletes in the country during the meet.
The Bulldogs performed strongly throughout the weekend.
Junior Denzel Comenentia finished first in the shot put and the discus. Sophomore Louisa Grauvogel set five personal records and won all seven heptathlon events.
Senior Tatiana Gusin competed for the first time since her injury, and won the high jump, clearing over 5-11 on a first attempt.
Junior high jumper Keenan Laine set a new career best at the meet. Laine has several goals that he’s looking forward to accomplishing during the outdoor season: “My personal goal would be to clear 2-30 and hopefully win SEC and nationals, that’d be my goal,” he says.
