Former University of Georgia and University of Miami football head coach Mark Richt is recovering from a heart attack as of Monday morning.

The 59-year-old tweeted on Monday he was “doing fine.”

“As I went through the experience I had peace knowing I was going to heaven but I was going to miss my wife,” he tweeted.

I am assuming word travels fast. So I wanted to be able to inform everyone that I did have a heart attack this morning. I am doing fine. As I went through the experience I had peace knowing I was going to heaven but I was going to miss my wife. I plan to be at work this week.

Richt stated in the tweet that he plans to return to work next week. Currently, he is a sports analyst for ESPN’s ACC Network.

Richt was a head coach for 15 years at the University of Georgia before he was fired in 2015. He later coached at his alma mater, University of Miami, up until December 2018, when he retired.
